Secutech Day 2 buzzed with a clear focus on the future of video security: cutting-edge AI and seamless cloud integration. At the forefront of this innovation was Vivotek, a global top 20 company, showcasing its transformative “One Platform” approach, which promises to redefine accessibility and intelligence in security solutions.
Taiwan, once a manufacturing powerhouse for video security equipment, continues to exert significant influence at Secutech, with its pioneering brands leading the charge. Vivotek, a proud Taiwanese innovator, stood out with its latest advancements, as detailed by Jackie Wu, Department Manager, APAC Sales Department, in an exclusive interview with asmag at their booth.
“With ‘One Platform,’ we are enabling a crucial bridge,” Wu explained. “We can take the data stream from cameras integrated into existing on-premise systems and seamlessly connect them to the cloud. What’s more, new cameras can link directly to the cloud without needing any additional on-prem infrastructure.” The ultimate goal is to ensure Vivotek’s powerful AI functionalities are available to operators anytime, anywhere, delivering unparalleled flexibility and responsiveness.
The company’s commitment to continuous innovation was also evident in its AI capabilities. “Last year, we introduced Think Search to our AI Hub within Vortex, and this year, we’ve expanded it with advanced search options that go far beyond traditional forensic searches,” Wu added. Just weeks prior to Secutech, Vivotek had already made headlines at ISC West in Las Vegas by integrating Generative AI features for the first time. “At Vivotek, we are consistently dedicated to embracing every new generation of technology,” Wu affirmed, highlighting new people-counting features as a prime example of their AI advancements at Secutech. For the Taiwan market, in particular, this robust bridge between on-premise and cloud solutions is paramount for making advanced AI applications genuinely accessible.
Beyond Vivotek, a constellation of smaller Taiwanese video security brands are also making their mark, remaining fiercely competitive in the global market through their focus on NDAA-compliant platforms and bespoke customization options.
Geovision
Scalability remains a central theme for Geovision, prominently displayed at their Secutech booth. “Our VMS delivers the latest AI features for on-premise architectures, fully powered by our edge AI cameras,” stated May Chen, Sales Division Account Executive at Geovision. The system boasts impressive scalability, supporting up to 24 devices. For clients seeking to imbue existing camera-reliant systems with AI, Geovision offers a solution capable of unlocking these advanced features for up to 16 devices.
Chen elaborated on the system’s expansive capabilities: “On larger scales, we can integrate up to 900 streams, ideal for infrastructures connecting multiple servers. All these can also be accessed through the cloud, and we even support hybrid edge-cloud setups that eliminate the need for further on-premise servers.” A key differentiator for many Taiwanese brands, including Geovision, is their unwavering commitment to NDAA-compliant devices, often relying almost exclusively on components proudly “Made-in-Taiwan.”
Hi-Sharp
Hi-Sharp, a distinguished video security solutions provider, boasts a formidable global footprint spanning APAC, North America, and Europe. Their expertise often involves project-based solutions, such as providing compliant security for ATM rooms within banking institutions.
“We operate with two distinct product lines,” explained Christine Lin, Sales Department Manager at Hi-Sharp. “One exclusively utilizes Made-in-Taiwan components, while the other strategically integrates components sourced from China. This dual approach allows customers operating in jurisdictions with less stringent regulations to still benefit from our innovative solutions.” At Secutech, Hi-Sharp also unveiled an exciting new lineup of AI boxes, further enhancing their diverse portfolio.
3S
3S has built a significant global presence primarily through OEM manufacturing, a domain where Taiwanese companies excel due to their adherence to the highest compliance standards. In recent years, however, 3S has successfully pivoted to achieve substantial penetration in the domestic market, evolving into a comprehensive solutions provider with its proprietary VMS. Their vertical market focus includes publicly funded transportation projects and the stringent security demands of military bases.
“The standards for the military are exceptionally high,” emphasized Kevin Cheng, Sales and Marketing Department Senior Sales Manager at 3S. “Integrators must be able to demonstrate to the operator on the spot that every single component, down to the SoC, fulfills compliance standards and is sourced with complete transparency.”
Cheng underscored the unique trust factor associated with local manufacturing: “While global certificates, such as GSA, prove compliance in the broader market, they simply don’t suffice in this particular vertical. Here, ‘Made-in-Taiwan’ is what truly counts.” Looking ahead, Cheng expressed confidence that this inherent trust will be a significant asset: “In the future, as we plan our international expansion, we are confident that the ‘Made-in-Taiwan’ label itself will instill a high level of trust.”
