Verkada, a pioneering force in AI-powered physical security technology, has officially launched nominations for its highly anticipated third annual Safety Champion Awards. This prestigious program is designed to spotlight unsung heroes across diverse sectors who are revolutionizing safety and security in their communities.
For three years, the Safety Champion Awards have celebrated the dedication of security leaders in environments ranging from bustling schools and vital non-profits to critical healthcare facilities and essential municipal organizations. These professionals often work tirelessly behind the scenes, yet their impact on community well-being is immeasurable. As artificial intelligence continues to redefine the landscape of physical security, these awards also serve to recognize those who are skillfully integrating cutting-edge tools and technologies to foster safer, more resilient environments.
Nominations for the 2026 Safety Champion Awards will be accepted until June 30, 2026, across three distinct categories: Impact, AI Transformation, and School Safety.

The 2026 Verkada Safety Champion Awards categories are:
Impact Award
This award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated a significant, tangible positive impact on the safety and security framework of their organization or wider community. Beyond being celebrated at the esteemed VerkadaOne event, the honoree will receive a substantial $15,000 monetary prize*.
AI Transformation Award
The AI Transformation Award celebrates a Verkada customer who has ingeniously leveraged the company’s advanced AI-powered technology in a groundbreaking manner to elevate safety standards or boost operational efficiency within their organization or community. The honoree will be recognized at VerkadaOne and awarded a $10,000 monetary prize*.
School Safety Excellence Award
This esteemed award acknowledges a school or university that has implemented an innovative strategy to tackle security challenges, enhance emergency preparedness, and prioritize student well-being. The winning institution will not only be celebrated at VerkadaOne but will also receive an impressive $50,000 in gifted Verkada products, which can be allocated to their organization or a charitable organization of their choice.
