The security industry’s landscape is evolving, and Inim is making a bold statement. At the recent SICUREZZA show in Milan, Italy, Inim demonstrated its ambition to become a major player on the global stage, showcasing a comprehensive “Made-in-Italy” portfolio that extends beyond its traditional strengths in fire and intrusion detection.
While Hikvision has dominated the security sector worldwide for a decade, Inim is a well-respected name in Europe (particularly Italy), Africa, and South America. Its integrated fire and intrusion detection technology has earned a loyal following. However, Inim’s impressive presence at SICUREZZA signaled a strategic push to broaden its market reach, backed by an expanding product line and strong business momentum.
In Milan, Inim highlighted its integrated solutions, offering complete control for deployments ranging from smart homes to critical infrastructure projects. This approach has secured a solid foothold in its core markets and is increasingly gaining traction elsewhere.
“In Asia, Inim and its distribution partners are present in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and China, but we are eager to explore many other markets,” Marcelo Cotignola, Managing Director for Iberia and Latin America at Inim, revealed in an exclusive interview. He attributed this expansion to consistent annual revenue growth exceeding 20% over the past few years.
A Regional Leader with Global Ambitions
In Europe, Inim proudly holds the position of the No. 1 brand from Italy. Cotignola expressed confidence that the company will maintain its technological leadership. “Everything we create is based on innovation,” he emphasized.
Building on this foundation, Inim is pursuing a technology roadmap that unifies fire detection, intrusion, video surveillance, and home automation into a single, cohesive ecosystem. At SICUREZZA, the company showcased updates across its portfolio, including:
* **InVista IP cameras and NVRs:** Featuring enhanced system-wide integration with CoreSync.
* **FireDesigner and InCadPro:** Design tools tailored for fire safety professionals.
* **InimHome app:** Connecting multiple subsystems for residential and SMB customers.
“We began with fire, then introduced intrusion, and most recently, emergency lighting,” Cotignola explained. “Our differentiator is addressable emergency lighting integrated within the fire system,” a feature that streamlines testing and maintenance for installers via a single platform.
Inim leverages the inherent synergies between fire and intrusion detection, a common practice among companies with offerings in both areas. However, the Italian company distinguishes itself with a strong emphasis on full integration, converging all functions in the cloud. This unified platform allows users to manage all subsystems seamlessly.
“In fire detection, we were the first to introduce a cloud solution. We were also the first to offer touchscreen panels,” Cotignola stated, emphasizing that full integration is essential for ease of use, particularly in critical emergency scenarios.
“Such situations can be complex,” he continued. “It can be difficult for operators to decide how to respond to a fire. With Inim, everything is integrated and easy to understand – all on one touchscreen, with clear pictures and icons.”
Video security initially became part of Inim’s offering as a means of verification during emergencies, providing real-time footage to help operators gain “more complete information of the environment.”
Edge AI Powers Intelligent Surveillance
Inim’s InVista line of products garnered considerable attention at SICUREZZA. This complete, integrated video solution encompasses cameras, NVRs, cloud services, analytics, and tight integration with intrusion and fire detection systems.
InVista cameras include models with fixed and motorized lenses, ranging from bullet cameras to minidomes, with resolutions up to 4MP. They offer day-night operation, smart IR or LED illumination, true WDR, and exceptional low-light sensitivity. Notably, they feature Inim’s in-house developed edge AI, capable of detecting events in each frame, triggering customizable alarms, and automatically sending 15-second snippets of 4K footage to the cloud for verification.
Installed in homes, these systems can be armed via voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant. In the event of a suspicious activity, users receive instant notifications on their smartphones. All cloud services are included with Inim products, eliminating the need for subscriptions.
While particularly appealing to home and SMB users, Inim solutions are designed for scalability and to meet diverse compliance requirements.
“Our projects include embassies, hospitals, and airports,” Cotignola stated. “In Brazil, we have car manufacturing plants. In Spain, we have an installation with 26,000 detectors and voice evacuation integration. These are massive, complex installations.”
As Inim expands its global footprint, adapting to local markets and regulatory environments, the company remains committed to certain core principles, most notably, its “Made-in-Italy” identity.
“We manufacture everything in one location, in Monteprandone near the Adriatic coast,” Cotignola said. While sourcing components globally, Inim prioritizes complete control over its solutions. “We design and manufacture the hardware, we design the software, we control all processes, and we ensure that cloud data is stored and processed in Europe.”
Uncompromising Quality Control
Another cornerstone of Inim’s operation is its commitment to testing 100% of its products before shipment, ensuring the highest possible build quality. To minimize delays and maintain competitive pricing, the company has largely automated its warehouse operations.
Before an Inim product leaves the factory, “we need to be 100% sure that it works and that the customer doesn’t incur preventable costs in the future, due to repairs for example,” Cotignola emphasized. “In markets such as Latin America, when people see the Inim label and the ‘Made-in-Italy’ label, they know it’s top quality.”
The “Made-in-Italy” label also carries an emotional weight.
“It doesn’t just mean a product comes from a factory in Italy,” Cotignola concluded. “For Inim, it means top quality is embedded, innovation is embedded, and our passion for the product is embedded.”
