i-PRO Unveils Cutting-Edge Security Radar for Enhanced Perimeter Protection
i-PRO, formerly Panasonic Security and a global frontrunner in security and public safety solutions, has just announced a game-changing addition to its portfolio: the i-PRO Security Radar. This innovative outdoor video monitoring system is engineered to fortify perimeter protection in the most critical environments.
Harnessing the power of advanced 60GHz millimeter wave technology, the Security Radar seamlessly integrates with up to four AI-enabled i-PRO PTZ cameras. This synergy enables precise detection and real-time visual tracking of both people and vehicles across a sweeping 180° field of view. Even in challenging conditions like low-light or severe weather, the radar maintains unwavering accuracy, providing dependable situational awareness.
Addressing Critical Security Gaps
Specifically designed for high-stakes sectors like power plants, data centers, airports, and remote infrastructure, the i-PRO Security Radar tackles long-standing vulnerabilities in outdoor monitoring. Unlike traditional video systems that can be hampered by range limitations and environmental interference, i-PRO’s integrated radar and video approach drastically cuts down on false alarms, ensuring operators receive only the most reliable, real-time intelligence.
Flexibility for Diverse Security Needs
The new Security Radar is engineered to support both manned and unmanned security operations. In staffed environments, it sharpens situational awareness and streamlines decision-making through pinpoint detection and real-time tracking. For unmanned or remote sites, it delivers intelligent, automated monitoring, minimizing the need for constant human oversight while guaranteeing responsive protection. This dual functionality empowers organizations to fine-tune their security strategies based on their unique operational demands.
Seamless Integration and Advanced Capabilities
The system boasts impressive detection ranges—up to 70 meters (230 feet) for people and 100 meters (328 feet) for vehicles—offering comprehensive coverage with fewer devices. Crucially, i‑PRO’s Security Radar works harmoniously with leading VMS platforms like Genetec, Milestone, and VideoInsight. It’s fully compatible with Genetec’s Restricted Security Area (RSA) surveillance module, ensuring smooth operation within the Genetec VMS ecosystem. This integration facilitates centralized management, advanced analytics, and streamlined workflows, giving security teams enhanced control and situational awareness across complex sites.
“Our new Security Radar redefines outdoor monitoring by merging high-accuracy radar, vision, and smart tracking,” says Gerard Figols, Chief Operating Officer at i-PRO. “For those managing infrastructure and unmanned facilities, this means fewer false alarms, quicker response times, and unmatched reliability in mission-critical scenarios.”
AI-Powered Visual Verification
With support for up to four edge-AI PTZ cameras, operators can visually track objects across a site without the burden of complex server-side software or infrastructure. For example, if the radar detects a potential intrusion and confirms that the object has entered a restricted area, the system relays location data to the PTZ camera(s), which then tracks the object and provides crucial context. Site managers can define no-entry zones and receive immediate alerts with visual verification, even in unmanned or poorly lit locations.
Built for Reliability and Security
Engineered for peak performance and durability, the radar system is built to resist tampering and withstand harsh environmental conditions, with a specialized coastal model available for salt-heavy environments. Aligning with i-PRO’s commitment to cybersecurity leadership, the hardware is FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certified, ensuring robust data integrity and making it suitable for highly regulated industries.
Simplified Installation
To streamline deployment, the radar features built-in installation support via a tablet. During setup, the system’s unique, integrated camera provides a visual alignment of the radar detection zone, simplifying the entire process.
Availability
The i-PRO Security Radar is slated for release in January 2026 in the United States, Canada, Japan, and New Zealand, with availability in Vietnam expected by April 2026.
