Suprema and Hyundai Partner to Build AI-Powered, Robot-Ready Security

Suprema and Hyundai Motor Group Join Forces to Pioneer AI-Powered Security Robots

Suprema, a global frontrunner in AI-powered biometrics and security solutions, has announced a strategic alliance with Hyundai Motor Group, signaling a new era in security technology. The two giants have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaboratively develop cutting-edge, AI and robotics-based total security solutions.

This partnership is set to revolutionize the robotics and physical security landscape. By merging Suprema’s industry-leading AI-driven integrated security solutions with Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB’s advanced robotics expertise, the collaboration aims to forge innovative business models. The core focus will be on crafting comprehensive security solutions that seamlessly blend AI and robotics, implementing autonomous robot services by linking robots with existing infrastructure, pioneering new security services leveraging robotics technology, and championing standardization across these burgeoning fields.

The anticipated outcome is the commercialization of next-generation, AI-centric building security services, synergizing AI security with robotics. These advanced solutions are slated for deployment in a range of robot-friendly building projects, including upscale office complexes, hospitals, and luxury hotels. Suprema’s AI-based integrated security platform will be engineered to oversee security and infrastructure throughout entire buildings, fostering an environment where humans and robots can coexist harmoniously. This will facilitate autonomous robot navigation and enable a suite of robot-friendly building services.

Suprema and Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB have already tasted success, having jointly developed and implemented a security solution at Factorial Seongsu, Korea’s first commercially viable robot-friendly building. This solution integrates Suprema’s AI-based facial authentication access control technology with autonomous robots. Building on this foundation, the companies are committed to the ongoing development of novel security services, including specialized security form factors that harness robotics hardware and software to bolster physical security.

“This partnership signifies a pivotal moment as we usher in a new age of unmanned security services that fuse AI and robotics. We intend to deepen our collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB to create AI-driven, robot-friendly building security solutions,” stated Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema. “Our system will seamlessly integrate cloud technology, robotics, AI, various sensors, and on-site response solutions. Furthermore, we aspire to cement our position as a global leader in integrated security platforms featuring AI-driven automation, incorporating advanced technologies such as AI drones and acoustic detection systems.”

Dong Jin Hyun, Hyundai Motor Group VP and Head of Robotics LAB, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Access control is paramount in the creation of intelligent robot-friendly spaces. Through integration with access control solutions, we will propose a new industry standard where robots and humans overcome infrastructural hurdles, capitalizing on enhanced mobility and seamless services. We aim to broaden our offerings beyond traditional static form factors within the physical security industry and unlock new business opportunities through Robotics LAB’s RTS (Robotics Total Solution) model.”
