Motorola Solutions Unveils Revamped Pelco Security Portfolio for Harsh Environments
Motorola Solutions has launched a completely reimagined Pelco, a suite of AI-powered security devices designed to thrive in the world’s most demanding environments. Think oil rigs, bustling ports, and other critical infrastructure sites where standard equipment simply can’t cut it. The new Pelco lineup boasts fixed cameras, ruggedized long-range cameras, intelligent sensors, and AI analytics, all engineered to seamlessly integrate with a wide range of third-party video management systems (VMS).
The transformation follows Motorola Solutions’ acquisition of Pelco in 2020. Since then, the company has poured resources into in-house engineering and design, more than doubling the camera line. The revitalized Pelco brand unifies specialized security technologies acquired through the strategic acquisitions of Videotec, IP Video, and Silent Sentinel.
“Pelco equips security operators with robust solutions tailored to their specific safety needs, regardless of environmental challenges,” says Hamish Dobson, Corporate VP, Pelco. “We’ve purposefully designed Pelco to fuse rugged hardware, cutting-edge sensors, and AI-powered analytics into a VMS-agnostic portfolio, setting a new standard for critical infrastructure security.”
The expanded portfolio unlocks new growth opportunities within critical infrastructure industries like transportation, aviation, maritime, and utilities. These sectors routinely face extreme weather, corrosive elements, and other hazardous conditions that can quickly destroy ordinary security equipment.
What’s New in the Pelco Portfolio?
* **Esprit Anti-Corrosion cameras:** Built to withstand the relentless salt spray and corrosive elements of maritime environments.
* **ExSite Enhanced Thermal 2 fixed camera:** Provides thermal imaging for hazardous locations like power plants, complete with global explosion-proof certifications.
* **Halo Smart Sensor:** An all-in-one intelligent sensor that prioritizes privacy while detecting vaping, gunshots, unusual noises, motion, and emergency keywords like “help.”
* **Aeron and Jaegar cameras:** Offer long-range detection capabilities (up to 20 miles) in extreme conditions, suitable for military, aviation, maritime, and critical infrastructure applications.
Elevating Camera Support with AI
All Pelco devices are supported by Elevate, a cloud-based platform that uses AI for on-device and edge analytics. Elevate monitors camera health and ensures firmware is up-to-date.
Open and Compliant
Pelco devices are engineered for compatibility with Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) conformant systems. This simplifies installation, allows for flexible integrations, and avoids expensive system overhauls. Pelco IP cameras also comply with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Sec. 889 rules for secure equipment procurement.
